I'm looking for some feedback on the recent changes made to the website, namely the homepage redesign and changes to the forum. What things in particular do you guys like or dislike about the modifications?

Also, does anyone have any features in particular they would like to see added to the site? I have some of this summer off so I should have a bit of time to work on things.

Hey, I'm liking the changes to the site! You know the major thing that would be nice, is if you could appoint some people to help out, its understandable that you are busy, but if there is someone or a few individuals you can give rights to change stuff it would really be beneficial to the site.

The major thing now, is that I don't think a huge amount of people come on anymore due to the fact that all operations on the site ceased for a good period of time.

I would be happy to help, as I have already offered. (BTW, why hasn't the list I composed for you been added yet? the one about fasts missiles/unmanned vehicles).

Oh and the other big thing is that no one is really on here anymore because the website was down for so long, I can get people to come from some other sites, but that would require a bit improvement in the forum set up, for instance http://www.aviationforum.org/ or http://www.milavia.net/, along with that, as I already mentioned you need to have some other people around to fill in when you are not here..............

Hmm, that used to be on my desktop but I think I lost it after my hard drive crashed some months ago. I thought I saved your original mail but I can't find it, do you still have the list? Can you send it to me again if you do?

I've made quite a few changes to the forum the past few days, hopefully it's close to being as good as the others out there. Any suggestions on what else should be done?

Right now all GAC volunteers are being treated as special users on the forum, but I haven't given permission to delete messages yet. I want to come up with a system to recover deleted messages in case one of the volunteers goes rogue. Also, I'm about to start working on an interface so volunteers can create new pages and upload images to the website.

Yep, I still have it, I will send it ASAP.

As for the forum its getting better, definitely much better than it was before. The main thing I see, for the time being, that would be nice, is sub categories and in general more specific categories.

Ok, having people with the ability to change and create new pages would be awesome, it would definitly help with expanding and updating the site.

Actually, one more thing with the forums, can you reverse the order, so it goes from the first, to the second, to the third, so that the third post is at the bottom, verus the first being at the bottom. Once a thread starts that has two pages, it is very difficult to figure out(for someone who is used to the normal way) where the the next posts are.................

Hmm, how do these look for sub-categories?

General Aviation
  • Historic
  • Airshows

Military Chat
  • Weapons
  • Aircraft
  • Politics

Community
  • General Chat
  • Shoutouts

Feedback
  • Forum
  • Website

Those are great!

I would however, add "Civilian Aviation" under "General Aviation". I would change "Politics" to "Community" and add something like "New Developments" or something having to do with newer military technology under the "Military Chat" heading.

One more thing, as I discussed earlier, as soon as you possibly can start finding people to be admins/editors/all of the other positions. That could really help move everything along, plus if you notice all of the other websites, especially forums, have multiple people working on, and maintaining them.

Other than that, advertising and getting more people, along with updating and adding stuff is the main things that need to be taken care of ASAP in my opinion.
