Here you go...My Dad retired in 1982 as a full bird Air Force F-4 driver. He also flew 135's and was an IP in 135's at March AFB 1965-1967. I'm pretty sure the years are right but if not, they are close.

I, on the other hand, chose to go the civilian route and have since aquired about 9000 hours 10 type ratings ranging from Citations to Falcons.

Needless to say, we talk about flying. In one of our conversations he told me that as an IP in the 135 he used to show students roll reversal on the 135 as you went through mach. I have asked him are you sure more than once...more than 20...ans everytime he says yes.

Well I now work with a old Air Force 'nav' turned PIC in a 135 (according to him), and he says in not so many words that my Dad doesn't know what he's talking about. So before I have to kick the &*%# out of him I tought I would try to find out the real story. There has to be somebody out there that would know or has also done it in the a/c. My Dad doesn't lie. No way.

If anybody can help I would sure appreciate it. My email will work fine. Thanks.

Well I don't think that the 135 can do Mach 1 I know it is damn close but it doesn't have an afterburner however it may be able to do it in a dive. Take the navy S-3 Viking, it can pop the barrier in a dive and it only has two turbo fans.

I would agree, the 135 is to damn big and its a modified commercial airframe so I'm pretty sure that there is no way for it to go the speed of sound. Its max speed at level flight at 25,000 feet is 616mph so if you were to climb to say 35,000ft and accelerate to its max speed at that altitude which is 500 some mph and then throw it into an almost vertical dive you might be able to get it up there, however it would be extremely dangerous and I think the airframe it self would rip itself up or at least the wings would come off because the whole commercial airframe thing means it was designed for normal level flight with subsonic speeds.

Hope this helps some.
