Canada doesn't need all this &*#% , it's a NATO member ,nobody would even try to attack it. It didn't have any wars, or any terorists attacks for many centuries. Canadians doesn't interfere in other business, I think it's the safest place on earth.

You just have a choice to waste money or not. You can buy Jas 39 or pay as much as three times more.

Get the F35 in my opinion. Also the jas 39 isn;t really the most increible plane it would just be like purchasing new F16 block 60s.

Canada couldn't afford the Avro Arrow what makes you think that they can afford and even more expensive aircraft such as the FA-22 or the JSF F-35. The price that even great Britain put toward the aircraft was in the billions of dollars. along a few other countries that could actually afford it.

F-35 is much more cheaper than f-22 , the whole program of x-35 was to build much cheaper and more capable fighter than f-22.

Even turkey wants to purchase it, I am sure that Canada is much more richer than turkey.

The JSF was designed to meet the specific needs of all the sevices. I think that it would beat a raptor in open combat because of the simplicity of it.

The jsf is planned to roll off the production lines and enter U.S. service in 2010 if i am not mistaken so it is very likely that almost all countries using the f-16,f-18, and harrier will begin using them close to that time.

The term JSF stands fo Joint Strike Fighter, and this implies that the F-35 is designed to attack ground targets mainly, but it can target air targets. But because it is a 'Strike' fighter i believ that an f-22 would mop the floor with the jsf.
