Message Number 1Date Posted: 04 March 2003 As far as I know are there still two SR-71 two seaters in the service of the NASA for high speed research mission and material testing. No SR-71 is by my knowledge in use by the regular forces.

Message Number 3Date Posted: 21 January 2005, 7:55:48 AM S-71 isn't practical enoph in todays warfare. Because Russia and China got Mi-31's and all other anti american counties got mig-25's. Mig-25's isn't fast enough but they still got long range aams. It's will be easier for russians and chinese, they got mig-31's with zaslon and more powerfull long range aams.

Message Number 6Date Posted: 24 January 2005, 10:04:46 AM people please stop being stupid--thanks
question 1--how would some little terrorist get their hands on one?
question 2--where would they fly it out of?
question 3--how would they maintain it?
question 4--where would they get the fuel?
question 5--would they also steal a kc135 so they could refuel it in midair as required due to the leaking fuel on the ground (an issue due to the heating of the skin)
answer 1--it would be next to impossible. they wouldn't want one as it can't drop bombs. oh and i am sure though that they have some sort of pilot training program under way.
answer 2--it needs an very long runway and i don't think there are any just out in the middle of nowhere that aren't being used that could accomadate this unusual aircraft.
answer 3--parts are hard to come by as it is so they had better steal 2 so one can be kept in flying condition.
answer 4--the fuel isn't made anymore as it was a special blend just for the sr71. the flashpoint for it was so high that it was piped through the leading edges of the plane to help absorb some of the heat generated by friction. (you could drop a lit cigarette into a barrel of the stuff and the cigarette would go out)
answer 5--this will probably be easier to do that to steal the sr71 but still exceptionally hard.
