The FA-22 Raptor is the best dogfighter and Air superiorty fighter because it taking on the former king of Air superiorty the F-15 in number of 2 to 14 and 2 to 16

The F-14. It is old but is still good. The Hornets can be on Aircraft carriers.
But each carrier should have at least 2 or 3 F-14s. I think it should be in service till
09.

The F22 Raptor is probably the best air superiority fighter. It's got the speed, technology and the stealth.

Your joking right? The F-4 was a disaster in Vietnam. It was designed around the wrong concepts and wasnt even fitted was a gun until it became obvious that our flashy new missles were sucking. All the speed that it had couldnt give it air-superiority over the rickity little migs that were able to outmanoever it. It was very unforgiving and had terrible handling characteristics according to both the Blue Angels and a former F-4/F-100 pilot that I know. The thing that it was probably best at was getting shot down.

Best fighter today? The argument rages on...

Best fighter of all time? P-51D
Everything that makes it functional makes it beautiful. I call it perfection, I call it passion, I call it human, I call it lust... I call it Su-37.

The F-4 wasn't the best fighter we ever made, but it wasn't that bad either. It still had a superior kill record over the North Vietnamese, in spite of the fact that it was deployed in a mission it wasn't designed for all too often. it was never meant to be a pure fighter, rather a fighter bomber type craft. I also remember seeing those things come whipping across the rice paddies there, looked real impressive flying so low that they would kick up a huge rooster tail of water with their speed. That had to be the worst flying tactic ever. A well thrown rock could have knocked one down, they were flying that low!

As far as air superiority? That would have to be the F-22, it's basically an AWAC as well as a fighter.

As far as dogfighting goes these days? Dogfights take place at just subsonic speeds, or in the trans sonic envelope. I would say that we are currently beyond dogfighting with our current technology. But amidst comparable planes it all comes down to pilots, not planes these days.

If you are going to use the kill to loss ratio it would be the F-15, no F-15's have ever been shot down in air to air or by SAM however a F-15 has never had to go up against anything that is technologically close to it in avionics, powerplant and weapons system. If you want to make a comparison like this you need to go back to the Korean war or WW2 in which I would bring up the North American P-51D Mustang.

The Focke Wulfe FW-190A was the meanest fighter of WWII. Two 7.9mm guns in upper engine cowling, two 20mm in wing root and two 20mm on mid-wing. bombs gallore. I'd be afraid if I saw this coming my way.

As far as modern jets go...dont argue with the F/A-22 Raptor. It is currently the most advanced tactical Air Dominance fighter IN THE WORLD!
