You meant E model ? Because first A model entered servise in middle seventies. And I meant it's airframe is to old. U.S. feels safer about the stealth fighters,I don't think f-15 E will be replaced soon but if f-35 would enter service I think USAF would rather use them than Eagle.

Mig-31 would kick Eagles &*# , but Iraq,Iran will never get it,to much restictions in politics and not enough money in the 'bank'.

the f-15 was built to defeat the mig-29. it did so in the first gulf war. shot it down with a sidewinder. as i've said the plane is only as good as the pilot flying it.

You also have to look at it this way. The F-15 no matter what model has never been shot down. People keep talking about Iraq and Iran getting migs and stuff like that. But what you don't realize that is that is never going to happen. The Problems that the US and the UN are dealing with in Iraq are from small terrorist groups, the country as a whole is now working with us to setup a democratic govn't.

The whole reason a F-15 hasn't been shot down is becuase it hasn't gone up against a decent air force. If it went up against a country with a decent air force i bet you a few will be shot down

Iraq had mig-29s during the persian gulf war in 1990. most were destroyed on the ground but a few were taken out by coalition aircraft, including the f-15.

f-15s may be old but they can outmanuever almost any russian or european generation 3 airframe, baritone is right its only as good as the pilot flying it but if the f-15 came up against say, a MiG-33k, which is about the same stats in the way of manuevrability as an f-5 which are extremely manuevrable, but the f-15 can hold 'welded wing' formation with an f-5 through a 4 g negative dive through mach 1.7 which is extremely hard to do.

it also shattered the phantom's records in time to intercept and all that.

Also keep in mind, (even though the f-15 is one of my favourite aircraft) The Su-35 and -37's are much more maneuverable than the f-15. And yes the f-15 has gone up against some pretty good pilots. True most of the encounters that USAF pilots have had with pilots from other countries have been in training, it still goes to show you how good the USAF trains their pilots.

I think their experimenting with ways to make aircraft more manuverable. I think the JSF, especially the one for the marines, will be what the doctor ordered to take down migs. The US might not have to worry about Russia attacking us but Russia supplies alot of our enemies with their technology from assault rifles to aircraft.
