I think it would pobably be f15,f14,f18 and last f16

i rekon it would go f-16, f/a-18, f-15 and then the tomcat, first because the only fighter in the current us arsenal with a greater manuevrability than the flanker is the fighting falcon or 'viper', german pilots have proved that the f/a-18C will be better than the MiG 29 at low speeds, the f-15, whilst claimed to be the best fighter in the world, could not perform against indian su-30mkks even though they were on even terms with the flanker, the f-15s were allowed to use their radars and all their equipment, likewise with the flanker, the tomcat was not built to take on fighters in close combat although it has phenomenal capabilities in that area it was made for the long range intercept with phoenix missiles, out of this bunch the f-16 is the best because it has incredible manuevrability, i have seen this in effect at an airshow and it is phenomenal, the f-16 is fast, small, and manuevrable, not only that but its multirole as well so it can pound the mud as well, the f-16 could well be the best military airplane in the world currently

All of that has some truth to it. but I am in the USAF and I have been on TDY's to Luke AFB in Arizona where they have 9 squadrons of f16s. Now I went there twice last year and both times, our pilots side they kicked the crap out of the 16 pilots. Also, in one mock engagement between a squad of 16 against a squad of 15s, The 16 starting winning because they were using the AWACS for Radar. Now, ( and this is just more operational wisdom I guess you could say) the 15s started taking out the awacs on all of the engagements and after that it was know contest. The 15s superior radar to 16 was able to let the 15s shoot all of the 16 out of the sky (not literally).

Yo guys ya'll remember baritone89? Well it's the same guy under a different screen name. Trigun, what you said about the F-15 was dead on. Yes the falcon may be more manuverable but in these missle engagements it's all about who detects who first. Thus, the better radar wins. Also the thrust to weight ratio on the eagle surpasses the falcon's. In a gun battle, the falcon could out manuvere the eagle but still the eagle could outrun the falcon therefore, escaping and leaving the falcon pilot without a kill. Almost sounds like the old vietnam engagements between mig-21s and phantoms.....

Id pick the F-18E/F if that counts here because its systems are all new and shiny. Otherwise the F-15 prolly.

the f-15's radar is still one of the best. The F-14 however could lock on to 20 something targets and fire like 6 to 8 aim-54 phoenix missiles at all targets and then just forget about them and return to base.
