Message Number 21Date Posted: 26 May 2007, 9:46:36 PM No, not yet give me a few years, I didn't say that I was right, I just said that was what I knew, I'm on vacation right now, so when I get home I will check out my info again.
As for the F/A-22 or F-22 I asked my Uncle, a retired Lt. Col. in the USAF about it, he is still in the industry, and he confirmed that it was F-22, but just to make sure I will see if I can get a hold of him.
Also let me thank you very very much for serving our country.

Message Number 22Date Posted: 26 May 2007, 9:56:51 PM I have a little question for you, what helocopters are used by the USAF? All of them or as many as you know of.

Message Number 23Date Posted: 27 May 2007, 12:54:11 AM No you didn't but your screen name of firstsgt_cap looks like First Seargant which is a rank/job in the Military. As far as the helicopters we use the MH-53 Pavelow (same as the Navy Sea Stalion), MH-60 Pave Hawk (same as black hawk) and H-60 for vip transportation at a few of the larger bases. Of course it is not a pure helicopter but we just activated the mv-22 Osprey (tilt rotor).

Message Number 24Date Posted: 27 May 2007, 12:56:21 AM Maybe the designation is going to be just F-22 but I am positive about it replacing the F-117. Try looking at the USAF official web page, it may take some digging but I am sure it is there. I learned of it in Air Power magazine (I think or Military Aircraft magazine) and I also saw it in the AF times.

Message Number 26Date Posted: 27 May 2007, 9:43:49 PM Yes, I am a 1st Sgt. just not in the USAF or directly in the USAF. I am part of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) the _cap in my username stands for that. We are the USAF Auxilary so technically we are part of the air force, but its just a technicality we don't get paid or anything.
As for the helocopters the main one I wanted to get you on was the Mil helo the USAF spec ops uses. I can't remember he exact one, I believe it is the Mi-8, but again I'm on vacation and can't check, however tommorrow I will post with the right one.
I'm still not sure about the F-22's correct designation, I'm working on it though. Maybe I'll send an email to the PAO down at Tyndall, not sure yet.
I'm not saying your not right or anything, but is the 22 actually replacing the 117 or is the 22 just going to be based out of an old 117 base?

Message Number 28Date Posted: 27 May 2007, 11:50:22 PM Did some looking around on the chopper question and the Mi-8 is actually a russian heavy transport chopper. I believe you may be refering to the AH-6 Little Bird that USAF spec ops teams occasionally use when working with army teams. And yess the 22 will replace the 117 (not all at once of course) I will look into it some more though.

Message Number 30Date Posted: 28 May 2007, 8:49:57 PM Oh ok I actully did not know about that one, you got me there. Thanks for clarifying the screen name. Mine is my nick name plus my employer (obviously). I was actually surprised that the CAP does as much as it does, you guys are pretty busy.
