I just wanted to here everyones opinion on the best aircraft made in the 1940's through the 50's . The CF-105 Avro Arrow. I believe that if Canada had actually been able to afford it they would be one of the worlds top super powers right now. Considering most of the engineers that worked on it came to work for the US.

I believe it. The Arrow was a very good interceptor enough to surpass the F-16. It's only downfall was that it did not have a gun.

ain't that the truth. If they could have bought it, It would have been eventually outclassed by the hornets they have now.

it wasn't that the canadians couldn't afford the arrow. they were essentially talked out of it by the usaf. they were talked into buying the bomarc missile system and some other fighters--can't remember which ones. and there is no way they would have been superpower because they just don't have the economy to do so--nor do they care to be.

here is some interesting info on the aircraft www.airandspacemagazine.com/ASM/Mag/Supp/AM98/Floyd1.html

Canada is one of the most succesful neutral nations. The last major conflict they were in is WWII. They really don't need the most advanced stuff cuz they're staying out of everything.

I believe the aircraft they were talked into buying were the f-105's. Actually They could've afforded it the bomarc's and the fighters ended up costing more than the arrow would have.

Yeh. I think it's wise that canada is staying out of everything because anyone could wipe them out, even north korea!
