Message Number 2Date Posted: 12 June 2005, 12:25:12 AM the f-14 is far more superior to the su-27. it is faster, more manuverable, and is a better weapons platform. the tomcat is far more safer too. frankly the US aircraft have a better safety record than russia.

Message Number 5Date Posted: 14 June 2005, 1:56:51 AM sry bout that. disregard that comment. i checked it again and the aircraft were mig-23's. i'd say that the flanker and the tomcat are about equal in a dogfight but the tomcat would have the first shot first kill advantage due to the fact that it carries the longest range air to air missile in the world, the phoenix. due to that fact, the tomcat could detect, target, and kill the flanker before the flanker new the tomcat was there.

Message Number 6Date Posted: 17 June 2005, 4:30:31 AM your right, i've had many arguments with people over this and everyone i talk to thinks that the '27 could dice a tomcat up easily but i always beg to differ.
i luv the f-14 and i know that it has had its troubles like with the tf-30 engine and stuff like that but its a superb fighter and it could kill most gen 3 fighters in the world.

Message Number 8Date Posted: 24 June 2005, 8:54:59 PM well now that the aim54c is out of service what will the f14 do? hmm i think it will be retired. wow i am right. in recent exercises--maybe 2 years ago--the su27 kicked some f15 &*# in mock dogfights. the f14 ain't really that great. the su27 is an amazingly agile aircraft. what i would really like to see is a bunch that have their avionics upgraded by the israelis. hmm i think thats actually happened already. i should check on that.
and when we say su27 do we mean the various versions--su30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37? because personally i would climb into a su37 over any other combat aircraft in the world right now.

Message Number 9Date Posted: 25 June 2005, 2:33:36 AM Frankly i'd take a JAS 39 Gripen over the su-27 or the tomcat. The phoenix hasn't been retired, just discontinued. It is still in the Navy inventory along with the AIM-120 AMRAAM.
