probably the F-15. I saw this show on the history channal about F-15s. One time a F-15 got one of its wings torn off in a training exercise in Isrial and the pilot was able to land the aircraft safely. I think its on YouTube. Just serch "F-15 with one wing". Now thats tough.

If we were talking about civilian aircraft, I would go with a Cessna 100 series. they are used to teach pilots how to fly and are very forgiving. Hey why else would they be used to teach student pilots?
There are no strangers here. Just friends you haven't met yet!
-Irish Proverb

Gotta be the vulcan a 4 jet bomber which a collegue i work with came back with 1 engine working and a nuclear bomb on board and he stepped out and said wanna go down the pub. On another occasion all the eletronics systems failed 1 generator caught fire and dowsed an engine in flames and still came back without a sweat. Such a shame it aint in service anymore well atleast we got xh558. And last week i actually flew xh558 there were some problems but they dont matter the extreme power and durabillity wil get you outta anything and i mean anything!

Visit my site for memories about v bomber crews and specifications and much much more!
'The distant flash of lightning howling through the thunder' ex RAF ligthning pilot recalling lightning of 1973 through thunder

A-10...........look here the F-16 may be great an dandy, but if you put a hole in its wing or destroy the engine you are SOL, and you are going to be pulling that yellow and black handle pretty darn quick.

A-10 comes back with literally one engine holes through both wings, and one wing partially still there, it comes back with halfs or even quarters of its vertical and horizontal stabilizers. The thing is like a tank, that doesn't die........ever..........

The F-15 comes next, agian an aircraft that you can take a wing off and still fly back and land............

the F-16 kicks butt. It is small, lightweght, cheap, highly meanuverable, flew the most missions in Operation Desert storm, is the primary air defense fighter of the USAF, and to close my arguement i would like to take a statement from globalaircraft.org itself:

In an air combat role, the F-16's maneuverability and combat radius (distance it can fly to enter air combat, stay, fight and return) exceed that of all potential threat fighter aircraft. It can locate targets in all weather conditions and detect low flying aircraft in radar ground clutter. In an air-to-surface role, the F-16 can fly more than 500 miles (860 kilometers), deliver its weapons with superior accuracy, defend itself against enemy aircraft, and return to its starting point. An all-weather capability allows it to accurately deliver ordnance during non-visual bombing conditions.

that is what it says. look it up. I didn't change a word. Sure it may not be as "high tech" as the F/A-22 or F-35 but hey that thing is sticking around for a VERY long time.
If you are going thru hell, keep going.
-Winston Churchill

For me it would be the A-10. That thing has backup systems for the backup systems just to backup the backup systems. An armored tub, belly-landing-friendly (purpose of main gears placement parially exposed) and two of EVERYTHING makes it pretty safe in my book.
Everything that makes it functional makes it beautiful. I call it perfection, I call it passion, I call it human, I call it lust... I call it Su-37.
